Location:
The crofting township of Hacklet is located in the south of the Isle of Benbecula and approximately 6 miles from Balivanich.
Balivanich has a range of services including a Post Office, hospital, primary school, supermarkets, several shops and cafes. It is also home to the island’s airport with regular services to Stornoway, Inverness and Glasgow.
The Isles of North & South Uist and Benbecula are linked by causeways and are famed for their long sandy beaches. They are also a haven for bird watchers, having a wide variety of both resident and visiting birds, Golden and Sea Eagles as well as a wide variety of other wildlife including otters and visiting whales, dolphins and seals off the coast.
Regular ferry services with connections to the mainland are also available from Lochmaddy in North Uist via the Isle of Skye and Lochboisdale in South Uist to Oban.
