Kylerhea is a small crofting township on the east coast of the Isle of Skye, overlooking Kyle Rhea, a strait splitting Skye from the Scottish mainland. The township is also home to the Skye Ferry - the last manually operated turntable ferry in the world. The short crossing to Glenelg operates between April and October and takes only a couple of minutes.
Whilst there are no facilities as such in Kylerhea, it is some 10 miles from both Broadford and Kyleakin/Skye Bridge. Facilities in Broadford include a supermarket, petrol station, hotels, restaurants, hairdressers, doctors’ surgery and hospital. Primary schooling is available in Broadford with secondary schooling in Portree.
