Scottish Property Rich List 2009

The Scottish Property Rich List 2009 out today has revealed Milltimber, AB13 in Aberdeen as Scotland's most expensive postcode with average property prices of over £430,000 and Auchterader as home to the country's most expensive street, Caledonian Crescent, where the average home tops an impressive £1.5 million.

Compiled by leading house prices website, which provides free value estimates for every UK home, the comprehensive guide highlights the most exclusive neighbourhoods and addresses across England, Scotland and Wales and is available in full at

Suburb Milltimber, AB13, west of Aberdeen was named as the Most Expensive Area in Scotland with an average house price of £422,760, followed by Humbie, EH36 in East Lothian (£377,582) and Aberdeen's AB15 (£342,239).

Scotland's Most Expensive Street was once again named as Caledonian Crescent in Auchterader where the average house price came in at a whopping £1,587,979. Second on the Scottish street list was Wester Coates Avenue, Edinburgh with an average home value of £1,241,431, followed by Dalmuinzie Road in Aberdeen at £1,194,214.

And despite the market downturn, Edinburgh still remains home to 199 streets where average home values remain over £500,000, whilst Glasgow recorded 118 such streets accordingly to the latest figures.

Our value estimates are calculated using a proprietary algorithm (a secret formula) that we have developed by analysing millions of data points relating to property sales and home characteristics throughout the UK. The algorithm works by comparing relationships between home prices, economic trends and property characteristics in given geographic areas. Our estimates are constantly refined, using the most recent data available from public sources combined with our proprietary used-generated data and a variety of statistical methodologies, in order to provide the most current information on any home.
